We are particularly proud that W.TEC (Women’s Technology Empowerment Centre) was referenced in the Emerging Industries pillar of the policy document. This reflects our 17-year commitment to equipping girls and women across Nigeria with digital and STEM skills — ensuring they are not left behind in the rapidly evolving global economy.
Our Executive Director, Oreoluwa Lesi, was honoured as a WEE Champion, recognising her leadership and W.TEC’s role in shaping this vital policy. From our extensive training programmes to our data contributions during stakeholder engagement and validation sessions, we have been privileged to support the development of this roadmap from its earliest stages. Special appreciation goes to our team member Blessing Hamed, who represented W.TEC throughout the rigorous policy review and validation process.
As we celebrate this recognition, we are also reminded of the Japanese writer Ryunosuke Satoro’s words:
“Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean.”
W.TEC’s journey has always been one of partnership — with government, development agencies, civil society, schools, and communities. It is these collaborations that make transformational change possible.
We remain committed to building a robust pipeline of girls and women who are confident digital citizens and thriving contributors to the tech and innovation sectors. We look forward to deepening our support of Lagos State’s WEE agenda and co-creating solutions that unlock the full economic potential of women across the state.
