Our Work
The Women’s Technology Empowerment Centre (W.TEC) is a Nigerian nonprofit organization committed to building a more inclusive science and technology ecosystem, with the next generation of women STEM creators, entrepreneurs, and leaders.
We have chosen to focus on this area because statistical evidence has shown that in most African countries, women’s participation in science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) is far lower than men’s.
W.TEC’s programmes encourage more girls to pursue STEM careers and support women to build real socio-economic pathways for themselves in science and technology.
W.TEC’s programmes include:
– Early Innovators Camp (5 – 12 years)
– She Creates STEM Camp (13 – 17 years)
– W.TEC Academy (co-curricular school clubs)
– MakeHer Space (13 – 25 years)
– Inclusive Technology for All (students with intellectual & developmental disabilities)
– SHE CAN with ICT (technology programme for female entrepreneurs)
– Staying Safe Online (seminar school series)
– MentorHer (mentorship & leadership programme for female STEM undergraduates)
Our GoalS
– Equip girls with the skills to use and build STEM-related content and solutions.
– Provide information and mentorship to inspire and guide STEM career decisions and planning.
– Provide a safe space for learning and growing by establishing girl-friendly network of STEM-fluent alumnae and mentors.
– Produce innovative and ground-breaking research and discussions that support the development and implementation of STEM programmes and policies for girls and women.

To educate, connect and empower Nigerian women through active engagement with science and technology via training, mentoring, research, and policies.
Our Vision
A society where Nigerian women and girls are able to create and use science and technology for learning, leadership, entrepreneurship, and professional activities effectively.
