Bridging the STEM Divide: 18 Years of Impact, Insights and Stakeholder Action for Gender Equity in Nigeria (2008–2026) presents a comprehensive analysis of the progress, challenges and opportunities shaping gender inclusion in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in Nigeria over the last eighteen years. The report examines how education, communication, policy reforms and multi-stakeholder collaborations have influenced access and participation for girls and women in STEM fields.
Drawing on research evidence and stakeholder experiences, the publication highlights the critical role of advocacy organisations, government institutions, development partners, educational bodies and the private sector in expanding digital literacy, mentorship and innovation opportunities for young women. It documents the evolution of STEM inclusion from awareness campaigns between 2008 and 2012 to the current focus on artificial intelligence, digital transformation and future workforce readiness.
The report also identifies persistent barriers, including gender stereotypes, inadequate infrastructure, unequal regional access and implementation gaps that continue to limit women’s participation in STEM.
