W.TEC HOLDS PANELIST SESSION TO MARK 2021 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

The Women’s Technology Empowerment Centre (W.TEC) is set to host a virtual panelist event to mark 2021 International Women’s Day. The event’s theme is in linewith the global theme for 2021 International Women’s Day: Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world’. Also the panelist event is part of W.TEC’s Monthly webinar series organised by MentorHER, W.TEC’s mentorship programme for Nigerian ladies studying STEM courses in our Higher Institutions.

W.TEC is proud to hold the event in collaboration with the United Nations Information Centre – Lagos, Nigeria (UNIC).

International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women’s achievements or rally for women’s equality.

During the event the panelist will be exploring how women can successfully balance their lives with work during the pandermic. They will also  discuss the importance of leadership by women and its impact to encourage more ladies to leadership roles in our community and lastly they will be sharing with participants from their experience in leadership roles for the reality side of the conversation

The Women’s Technology Empowerment Centre (W.TEC) is a Nigerian nonprofit organisation focused on encouraging girls to pursue technology careers and supporting both girls and women to use technology confidently for entrepreneurship and to speak about issues affecting their lives. We build the capacities of Nigerian girls and women, to increase their economic power and ability to speak about issues affecting their lives.
This is done through technology literacy training, technology-based projects, mentoring, work placement and research. W.TEC works in partnership with local and international NGOs, educational and research organizations.
