Attending the Women Economic Empowerment Policy Roadmap Co-Creation Workshop alongside W.TEC’s Executive Director was a truly insightful experience. Organized by the National Policy Association in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, the workshop brought together key stakeholders committed to advancing gender equality through policy.
One key takeaway for me was the urgent need for the domestication and implementation of this policy. If properly executed, it has the potential to drive significant growth for women in Lagos and beyond. Economic empowerment is not just about creating opportunities—it’s about ensuring that women have access to the resources, policies, and support systems necessary to thrive.
As I listened to the discussions, it became even clearer that a well-structured policy framework can unlock financial independence for women, promote entrepreneurship, and bridge long-standing gender gaps. The impact of such policies goes beyond individuals; it strengthens families, communities, and ultimately, the economy.
At W.TEC, we believe that real change comes from collaborative action and continuous advocacy. This workshop reinforced the need for ongoing dialogue, strategic policymaking, and implementation that truly reflects the needs of women. I am excited to see how this policy develops and remains committed to pushing for a future where women’s economic empowerment is not just an aspiration, but a reality.
