INTERNATIONAL INTERNET DAY
Today is the International Internet Day and yearly on October 29, the internet and its impact as one of the most important invention in human history, is celebrated worldwide. The internet is unarguably one of the most used digital inventions and it has aided globalisation and connectivity in the world at large.
It is worthy of note that the Internet Day celebrates the origin of the very first internet transmission, and from that event, series of events world-changing followed. In the 1960s, the internet was known as Advanced Research Projects Agency Network (ARPANET).
According to the internetsociety.org, the Internet is at once a world-wide broadcasting capability, a mechanism for information dissemination, and a medium for collaboration and interaction between individuals and their computers without regard for geographic location.
Furthermore, the internet is a globally connected network system facilitating worldwide communication and access to data resources through a vast collection of private, public, business, academic and government networks. Now Internet has become one of the most important part of our lives. Most of us cannot think of spending one day without internet. Internet has made our lives much easy.
Overtime, the internet has grown to facilitate services like: Email, Web-enabled audio/video conferencing services, Online movies and gaming, Data transfer/file-sharing, Instant messaging, Internet forums, Social networking, Online shopping, Financial services, and many more.
