Part of activities to mark W.TEC’s 10th year anniversary was a courtesy call on Intel to show appreciation for their unwavering support of W.TEC’s programs, in the last five years. The relationship of W.TEC with Intel focused on implementing the SheWillConnect program, an initiative of Intel to bridge the internet gender gap in Africa. The 5 year relationship which yielded great results successfully created a new generation of ICT savvy Nigerian women.
During the visit at Intel, W.TEC presented the impact of the programs implemented in conjunction with Intel while some beneficiaries of the programs who also came along for the visit shared their impressive impact stories.
The highlight of W.TEC’s partnership with Intel, is a direct reach to 2,000 women who were empowered with life changing ICT skills while same for 500 girls who were introduced to higher computer skills at numerous the schools plus other capacity building programs for both W.TEC staff and select Nigerian Librarians.
Speaking on behalf of Intel, during the visit Mr Akinola Babatunde, Intel’s Group Corporate Affairs Manager, showered encomiums on the management of W.TEC for the steadfastness in their work, stating that W.TEC is recommendable to organisation like Intel and he looks forward to working with W.TEC in the nearest future.
