We are thrilled to announce the commencement of the 2025 session of the W.TEC Academy at our Oregun centre! This year, our focus is on Renewable Energy and Electronics, reflecting our commitment to equipping young women with the skills to thrive in the evolving technological landscape.
Each term, we welcome 33 new participants into our weekly classes. These sessions are designed to be interactive and collaborative, with students working in groups on projects that not only enhance their technical skills but also foster teamwork and innovation.
In previous sessions, our participants have engaged in hands-on projects such as creating solar phone chargers, rechargeable lamps, and power banks. These initiatives were inspired by the need to address electricity challenges in their communities and have been instrumental in teaching practical applications of renewable energy concepts.
Recently, we’ve observed a heightened interest and enthusiasm among our students, particularly in the areas of renewable energy and electronics. This positive trend has encouraged us to expand the scope of our curriculum, introducing more advanced topics and projects to further ignite their passion and creativity.
The W.TEC Academy aims to inspire girls to pursue careers in engineering, technology, and computer science by nurturing their interest in STEM, connecting these fields to real-life situations, and equipping them with the skills to translate concepts into technology-driven solutions.
As we embark on this new term, we are excited to see the innovative projects and ideas that will emerge from our participants. We remain committed to providing a supportive and enriching environment that empowers these young women to become the next generation of tech leaders and innovators.
