Ondo State, Nigeria – April 4, 2025 – The Women’s Technology Empowerment Centre (W.TEC) is thrilled to announce the 2025 Graduation Ceremony for participants of the W.TEC Academy Ondo Programme – a co-curricular ICT programme for secondary school girls, marking a significant milestone in the initiative’s expansion.

What started as a test run in two secondary schools has now scaled up to five schools across Ondo State, reinforcing W.TEC’s commitment to equipping young girls with critical technology skills. This milestone has been made possible through a strategic collaboration with F5, the Ondo State Ministry of Youth and Sport Development.

The graduation ceremony, set for April 4, 2025, will celebrate an entire school calendar year of intensive training in work-life tech skills, empowering 150 secondary school girls with a strong foundation in digital literacy, programming, and problem-solving. In addition, 13 youths were engaged as trainers, helping to shape the next generation of tech-savvy young women. These skills give them a competitive edge as they navigate an increasingly digital world.

Speaking ahead of the event, W.TEC’s Executive Director, Oreoluwa Lesi, expressed enthusiasm about the impact of the programme:
“Seeing the W.TEC Academy grow in Ondo State is truly inspiring. In just one year, we’ve empowered 150 girls with essential technology skills, providing them with a solid head start in the evolving digital economy. This graduation is not just a ceremony; it’s a celebration of the limitless potential of these young girls and a testament to what strategic partnerships can achieve.”

The W.TEC Academy is designed to bridge the gender gap in technology by introducing young girls to digital tools, entrepreneurship, and career development opportunities in STEM. By expanding to more schools, W.TEC continues to ensure that more girls in Ondo State can access high-quality tech education and build promising futures.

As we look forward to an exciting day of celebrations, W.TEC extends its gratitude to F5, the Ondo State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development for their unwavering support.
