For over a decade, the Women’s Technology Empowerment Centre (W.TEC) has been at the forefront of advocating for online safety, digital literacy, and gender inclusivity in Nigeria. From past collaborations with Facebook (now Meta) to equipping thousands of young people with tools for responsible internet use, our commitment to a safer digital space remains steadfast.

Continuing this tradition, W.TEC commemorated Safer Internet Day 2025 by partnering with the brilliant students of Temple College to host an inspiring youth-led summit on SDG 5 (Gender Equality) at Temple Primary School, Ilupeju, Lagos. The event brought together 100 selected students—both boys and girls—from seven public secondary schools in the Lagos Mainland area for a day of engaging discussions and learning.

Participants gained valuable insights on digital safety and inclusivity through a keynote session on gender equality, interactive panel discussions, and a hands-on workshop, empowering them to become champions for safer and more inclusive digital spaces. This initiative aligns with W.TEC’s mission to bridge the gender gap in technology and foster responsible digital citizenship among young people.

As we move forward, W.TEC remains committed to collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure that young Nigerians—especially girls—are equipped with the skills and knowledge to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.

Join the conversation and be part of the movement for a safer internet!
