W.TEC once more takes the driving seat for the empowerment of women with ICT in Nigeria by working in conjunction with the CodeLagos programme; W.TEC’s training Centre in Lekki now serves as a free coding training centre for females the first of its kind for the project.
W.TEC which is currently a delivery partner with Lagos State Ministry of Education for the Codelagos (Lagos – Mainland) zone, supervises the implementation of the programme in select allocated secondary schools.
The W.TEC training centre is part of the Lekki centres designated for the out of school phase of the CodeLagos programme targeted at adult females who are interested to learn coding.
To this effect W.TEC’s training centre will serve to cater for more women in the Lekki axis  to learn coding resulting in having more female participation in the coding scene of Lagos.
CodeLagos is an initiative of the Lagos State Ministry of Education aimed at making coding education accessible to Lagos State residents.
As Lagos State strives towards an economy in which technology is leveraged to enhance the lives and promote the livelihoods of Lagos State residents, Lagos State prepares its citizenry to meet new workforce demands, harness the benefits of technology, and communicate in the language of the future.
By this effort, CodeLagos is positioning residents of Lagos State to:
·         Approach the world of work as problem solvers
·         Develop Innovative Solutions to local problems
·         Meet the growing demand for tech skills
·         Harness, create, and leverage on local & global opportunities
