In 2025, the Women’s Technology Empowerment Centre (W.TEC) continued to advance its mission of empowering women and girls through technology, advocacy, and inclusive innovation. Across programmes, partnerships, and national engagements, W.TEC reached thousands of women, girls, and young people, strengthening digital skills, confidence, leadership, and safety across Nigeria and beyond.

Building the Next Generation of Girls in STEM

One of the highlights of the year was the 18th edition of the She Creates Camp, W.TEC’s flagship residential STEM bootcamp. Forty girls aged 10–17 participated in an immersive learning experience themed “Byte by Byte: AI for Action.” Through hands-on projects using Artificial Intelligence, robotics, IoT, and data, the girls designed solutions to real-world problems while exploring STEM careers, leadership, and digital safety. Post-camp evaluations showed overwhelming growth in confidence and interest in STEM pathways.

Complementing this was W.TEC Early Innovators, which introduced younger children to technology and problem-solving through age-appropriate, curiosity-driven learning experiences.

Expanding Access Through Schools and Communities

Through the W.TEC Academy, the organisation worked with 1,793 girls across 28 public secondary schools in Lagos, Kwara, and Ondo States, inspiring interest in computer science and technology careers. The programme was delivered in collaboration with corporate partners and state ministries, ensuring sustainability and scale.

W.TEC also deepened its commitment to inclusion through IT4ALL, a technology-based programme for young people with developmental and intellectual disabilities. In 2025, participants demonstrated measurable progress in digital navigation, literacy, and numeracy—reinforcing the role of technology as an enabler for all learners.

Empowering Women Entrepreneurs at Scale

The She Can With ICT programme reached over 5,000 female entrepreneurs in the fashion and beauty sectors across multiple African countries, equipping them with digital tools to improve productivity and profitability. In 2025, the programme was further repositioned as a centrepiece of W.TEC’s strategy, with stronger alumni engagement, peer learning, and ongoing masterclasses to sustain impact beyond training.

16 Days of Activism: Advocacy in Lagos and Kwara

Advocacy remained central to W.TEC’s work in 2025. As part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, W.TEC engaged 677 girls and young women through targeted sessions in Kwara and Lagos States.

In Kwara, sessions with schoolgirls created safe spaces to discuss gender-based violence, digital rights, and online safety, equipping participants with knowledge and confidence to protect themselves and speak up. In Lagos, the commemoration was integrated into ongoing training programmes, allowing for meaningful, student-centred conversations around personal safety, digital wellbeing, and rights awareness. Across both states, participation was active, reflective, and deeply impactful.

Influence, Recognition, and Policy Engagement

Beyond direct programmes, W.TEC reached hundreds more through speaking engagements, media appearances, and policy collaborations. The organisation contributed to the domestication of the Women’s Economic Empowerment Policy Roadmap in Lagos State, supported state-level digital literacy initiatives, and received national and international recognition for its work, including selection for the iF Social Impact Prize 2025.

Total Impact Snapshot: Record Growth and Cumulative Reach

In 2025, W.TEC recorded its highest annual reach to date, marking a significant milestone in the organisation’s growth and national impact. Through our programmes, advocacy, and partnerships, we achieved a direct reach of 7,521 beneficiaries in 2025, the largest number reached in a single year in W.TEC’s history.

This achievement builds on strong foundations laid in previous years. As at 2023, W.TEC had reached 47,461 women and girls, followed by an additional 4,650 beneficiaries in 2024. With the inclusion of our 2025 reach, W.TEC’s total cumulative direct reach now stands at 59,632 women and girls empowered through our interventions.

The scale of our impact extends even further through intentional ecosystem building. Beyond direct beneficiaries, W.TEC engaged and trained 50 youth volunteers across the country, who worked alongside our teams and acted as multipliers within their communities. Through indirect reach—via alumni networks, educators, families, volunteers, community engagement, and knowledge sharing—our 2025 programmes generated an estimated additional reach of 22,563 individuals. This was further amplified through strategic media engagement, including SheTalks Tech, our radio programme ( broadcast on Womens’ Radio a station  with an estimated audience of 10 million listeners), and our presence on Spotify, reaching over 100 listeners. Combined, these channels continue to extend W.TEC’s influence well beyond direct participation, shaping conversations, behaviours, and systems at scale.

Together, these figures reflect not only growth in numbers, but growth in trust, relevance, and effectiveness. As W.TEC looks ahead, this record-breaking year strengthens our resolve to scale responsibly, deepen impact, and continue empowering more women and girls each year than ever before.

Together, these figures reflect more than numbers. They represent influence, momentum, and a growing ecosystem committed to shaping a more inclusive digital future.

Looking Ahead

With cumulative reach continuing to grow and strong partnerships in place, 2025 reinforced W.TEC’s role as a trusted leader in gender and technology empowerment. Each programme, conversation, and collaboration contributed to a larger vision: a future where women and girls are not only included in technology, but are shaping it.

As W.TEC looks ahead, the lessons and impact of 2025 provide a solid foundation for deeper reach, stronger alumni networks, and sustained national influence in the years to come.
