W.TEC Celebrates Nationwide Success of the 2026 She Creates and STEM Camps, Plans Massive 2027 Expansion
LAGOS, NIGERIA — September 2026 — The Women’s Technology Empowerment Centre (W.TEC) is proud to announce the highly successful conclusion of its 2026 camp programmes. This year marked a significant milestone as W.TEC expanded its mission of delivering critical digital literacy and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education to young women across Lagos, Kwara, and Ondo states.
The flagship 19th edition of the She Creates Camp in Lagos, held from August 9 to 22, 2026, operated under the theme “AI, Future Skills and Digital Readiness.” The premier two-week residential immersion brought together 42 bright participants. The girls engaged in dynamic, hands-on workshops covering artificial intelligence, IoT, nautical science, and cybersecurity, complemented by inspiring real-world excursions to the Lagos State STEM Experience Centre and ICSL Lekki.

Concurrently, the programme’s regional impact deepened. The 5th edition of the Kwara State She Creates Camp provided an intensive one-week, non-residential experience for 16 secondary school girls. Exploring the same AI and future skills theme, the girls focused on digital safety, emotional intelligence, and financial literacy, further cementing W.TEC’s commitment to empowering young women in the region.

In a historic milestone, W.TEC debuted its first-ever Summer STEM Camp in Ondo State. Anchored on the inspiring theme “Designing Tomorrow, today,” this dynamic 5-day programme introduced 12 girls to core technology skills, culminating in the successful development of an emergency distress app and exposure to industrial fabrication.

Reflecting on the milestone, W.TEC Programmes Manager, Diamond Oshomoji, stated: “This year’s nationwide programme was a tremendous success. We are thrilled to see our flagship Lagos camp make a full, vibrant comeback post-COVID. Furthermore, it is incredibly rewarding to witness our footprint expand with our first-ever camp in Ondo State, alongside the steady and promising growth of our Kwara State edition.”
Building on this powerful momentum, W.TEC proposes an even larger camp programme for 2027, with strategic plans to scale activities across additional Nigerian regions to empower the next generation of female innovators.
