At the Women’s Technology Empowerment Centre (W.TEC), our goal has always been simple yet profound: build a world where girls and women are empowered to create and innovate using technology. Through our signature W.TEC Academy—a technology co-curricular programme for secondary school girls, proudly supported by Oracle—we have taken hands-on digital skills training directly to classrooms across Nigeria.
Nowhere is this transformation more evident than in Kwara State, where our reach spans across Ilorin and Offa.
Real Stories, Real Impact
Beyond numbers and metrics, the true success of W.TEC Academy is written in the personal stories of the young girls and educators involved.
- Inspiring Young Innovators: In Ilorin and Offa, students share how building computer literacy, learning to code, and working on STEM projects helped them break past self-doubt. Many came into the programme having barely interacted with a computer, only to emerge confidently creating digital projects and looking ahead to tech-driven careers.
- An Educator’s Perspective: It isn’t just the students who are moved. Teachers supporting the programme in Kwara State highlight how the after-school sessions spark curiosity, boost classroom performance, and open up whole new possibilities for young girls who previously had limited access to digital tools.
Hear Their Voices Today
There is nothing quite like hearing these personal journeys directly from the participants and teachers themselves. The smiles, confidence, and determination captured in their testimonials reflect the real power of STEM education.
